Children's KJV Sunday School Lessons on Samson for Elementary Grades
81This Bible lesson is age appropriate for elementary students who read and write independently and takes about 45 minutes to present. Use this lesson plan as presented here or make changes to it to suit your class or curriculum needs.
This is based on the King James version of the scripture, so if you are using an translation or transliteration, you may have to make some modifications.
Here's what you'll need to teach it:
- Bible - the text of story is found in Judges 13:15 and 16:1-31

Here's What You Do First
Copy or print the following statements about Samson on construction paper or lightweight card stock. Cut the sentences into strips. Give one each child; if there are leftover sentences, continue handing them out until they are all gone.
Let the children take turns reading them as a way of telling the Samson story. These fun facts about Samson give kids a deeper understanding of the story.
- I am male and I stand about 6 feet, 8 inches tall.
- I have a strong, muscular body like a body builder.
- My hair is extremely long because it has never been cut.
- My parents dedicated me to serve God before I was even born.
- God called me to be his worker before I was born.
- I belonged to a religious group called the Nazarites, who did not cut their hair or drink alcoholic beverages.
- I made a bad choice. I told the secret about my strength to Delilah.
- I thought Delilah was my friend and trusted her. She betrayed me to my enemies.
- When I died, I killed more of God's enemies that I ever did while I was alive.
Read or tell the Samson and Delilah story or use the short video below. Ask the kids to re-tell the story in their own words to test their comprehension and recall. Give each child an activity sheet (see text below) and let them work on them independently or as a group.

By the end of this KJV version Sunday School lessons on Samson, children know the story of Samson, and understand that there are consequences for disobeying God’s laws. They participated in classroom activities, and completed worksheets.
This is an excellent way to build on their prior knowledge of this Bible story and reinforce it. Other good ways to extend lessons are by incorporating story related crafts, printable coloring pages or activities, or reading other books about Samson and Delilah.
